Across the Miles

Hi there! I'm glad you stopped by my blog today! Today I have my second card for January for the Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.

I recently acquired a couple of Clearly Besotted stamp sets. and I used the New York scene for an across the miles card, since most of my cards go back to Scotland at Christmas time.

The scene and sentiment were stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink at the same time using the stamping platform.

This was heat embossed with Clear Detail embossing powder.

I made a mask for the "sun" die cutting a post-it note with the Spellbinders Standard Circles die set.

The mask was put over the sentiment and I sponged the open area with Distress Oxide ink Fossilized Amber.

I stamped the city scene on to another post-it note and fussy cut it out to make a mask for the city also. and then using the inside circle of the first mask I masked of the yellow sun, before sponging the Iced Spruce and Faded Jeans inks.

The little Christmas tree was colored with green Copic and the torch was colored with yellow Copic. The front was layered to a black base before the white card base. A black and white baker's twine was tied across the top of the card to finish it off.

Below, you can find a complete list of the products used in my card today.

Eat, Drink and bee Merrry

Hi there and welcome back to my second blog of the new year! Today I am sharing the card I made for the January Christmas Craft Creations Challenge, where we have to include some stenciling. For my card I am using the cutest little Bee Merry set from Clearly Besotted. A "newbee" for me!!

I began by stamping the cute little stamps in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and heat embossing them with Clear Detail.

The images were then colored with Copics and fussy cut.

I inked the honey comb background using one of the Recollections Stencil set and Distress Oxide Peeled Paint ink.

The sentiment was die cut with an old Spellbinders Hexagon die to match the stenciled background. I added some of the Peeled Paint before removing the die.

Dimensional Glue was applied to the snow on top of the hive to which I added Diamond Dust Glitter.

Sparkling Snow glitter was applied to the bauble using the same glue and Snow White Flocking to the Santa hat.

The glue was also applied on top of the colored lights. Everything was set aside to dry.

Here is a close-up of the finished card, once the pieces had been attached with foam pads to the stenciled card base. Hopefully, you can see the dimension of the different glitters and flocking.

A red and white bakers twine was tied around the side of the card to finish off.

Coolest Holiday Season

Hi there and a very healthy and happy New Year to everyone! I've unfortunately not started off on a good note - having come down with a very minor case of Covid last week. Anyway, hopefully that will be it for me going forward. Kind of glad I did get it, as the Omicrom variant is rampant around here in New Jersey, just now.

My January header is American Witch hazel. A cheery addition to the backyard when nothing else is blooming at this time of the year!

So on to my card for the Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge, which is always "anything goes". I had picked up the Reflections snowflake background stamp and thought to team it up with the two cute Hampton Arts penguins!

I started with stamping the background stamp on to a white card base with Versafine Clair Paradise ink and heat embossing with Clear Detail ink.

The two different penguins were stamped on to white cardstock in Versafine Nocturne ink and heat embossed with clear detail. They were colored with Copics and die cut using the die included in the Hampton Art set.

I found the cute sentiment in an old Sparkle n' Sprinkle set, called Holiday Penguins. This was stamped in the same Paradise ink and then heat embossed. I cut the sentiment out with an old Spellbinders Classic Diamonds die and then edged it with Paradise ink, quite heavily in places and then heat embossed that with the Clear Detail powder - it gave a lovely shiny appearance!

The sentiment and penguins were then added to the front with foam pads and a blue organdy ribbon finished off my card for today!

... and so my 2022 Christmas card stash begins! I hope you will be inspired to make a card to enter into our challenge and add to your stash too! The ingredients are listed below:
