I love that this set has a silhouette stamp in it. Great for two step-stamping (remember back when that was all the rage?). Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we? .....
... and in-keeping with a vintage, romantic look, here's what I came up with:
The ribbon was given to me by a neighbor after her mother-in-law passed away. She has no idea how old it is, but given the dates on some of the items that I was given, it's at least 10 years old. Anyone remember using or wearing it?
To make things look uniformly "vintage" I went with a lace background, using Champagne and Cyclamen glitters, then continued with the Floral Ovals frames from Spellbinders.
I stamped the outline of the geranium in StazOn black on watercolor paper and then came back with the silhouette stamp, to which I had directly applied the pinks and green watercolor crayons, misted them with water and stamped on top of the detailed image. I love the outside-the-line look that gets achieved with this method of stamping. I then went in with the glue pen and added some more Cyclamen glitter to the petals along with brass brad centers.
I'm kind of wishing I had used the cracked ice technique on the image, but was happy the way the Antiquities floral frame came out? So delicate and pretty. You'll find complete instructions right here, if needed. Here she is - one more time - in all her glory!:

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love the gently pleated ribbon. I don't recall ribbon like that but it reminds me of the little scarfs that were popular in the '50s. They had the same kind of pleats.

The beautiful card reminds me of a broach my grandmothers wore. Geraniums are one of my very favorite flowers. For years we planted bright red ones in a black kettle we had in our front yard.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely exquisite with the gentle waves of that vintage ribbon and embossed gilt frame. I am transported to another era just admiring this lovely piece of art. Beautifully done.

I love the antique look. It's very pretty & elegant & could be used for any occasion.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Great job. As to the age of the ribbon,I believe it is more than 10 years old. When my Mom passed away I took her beloved ribbon box and there was some of that ribbon in it. The year was 1996.
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning card! Love that gold behind the flowers.
ReplyDeleteNot only is your card beautiful and elegant but I love how you use so many techniques, that is something I just don't do and admire people that can.
ReplyDeleteHi Shona,Thanks for stopping by for a visit, and becoming a follower. I just joined as your newest follower after enjoying this beautiful creation. Oh yes indeed I do remember that ribbon. Had some on a blouse I used to wear. It's lovely on this card, lucky you to get it! I appreciated your explanation of how you created the image too. It's lovely to meet another "SnS" fan...I'm getting so many emails from folks who have met Margaret & understand exactly what I was trying to convey about my visit to her store. I'm off now to enjoy some of your other lovely posts. TFS & Hugs
