Hi there, and welcome to the latest Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop. Today we are celebrating Spring with our SNS children and flowers! If you hopped here by way of the talented Karalee then you are in the right place! Otherwise, you might like to go back to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog page to become eligible for five great prizes. There are 2 grand prizes and 3 "random" prizes that are attached to three different designers' blogs! In order to be eligible for the prizes, all you have to do is comment on each of the blogs.
So let's get on with the show! For my first card today I decided to go straight for the "Flower Child". There are many fun images in this Set 412 - Daddy's Little Girl. I love this image in particular - I have a niece that is a bit of a tomboy and I found Tomboy Becca to be right up her alley! I colored her with Twinkling H20s and a water brush, something I hadn't played with for a while. The frame is popped up with dimensionals after being run through a flower embossing folder. Girlie, but not too much! Full directions can be found here.
For my second card today, I am sharing my Mum's Mother's Day card. Mother's Day was the 18th of March this year in the UK. Mothering Sunday, as it is traditionally known in the UK, always falls on the 4th Sunday of Lent, so it can often fall in a different month (let alone day) - that's the UK for you, always keeping us on our toes! If you are interested in reading a little background on Mothering Sunday, just click here!
My Mum is a keen gardener. She has a courtyard in Scotland where she lives now and it is always a delight to see - roses and other climbing plants grow up the sandstone walls and then she has a "million" pots that are home to a wide array of plants. They've not been experiencing the nice weather that we have, so she says it's not as pretty as usual. We're going over for my Dad's 80th birthday next week, but like I said to her, we're not coming to see the plants!!
For the card I used one of my favorite flower images from set 402 - My Rose Garden. After coloring with Twinkling H20s, I covered the cut and embossed piece with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Detail powder, then repeated the process using Super Thick Clear embossing powder. When it was cool I just folded the piece which caused the cracks to appear, (couldn't wait for the freezer!) then I ran some distressing pink ink over the piece and rubbed off the excess, leaving the pink in the cracks. I then covered the piece again with Versamark and heat embossed with the Thick Clear powder once more. Full instructions for the card can be found here. If you want to check it out - here is a tutorial on the Cracked Ice Technique.
There are some items on sale this month, to go along with our theme, Flowers - Children - Spanish and Artist Tom Jones. These sets will be offered at 15% off. Details can be found here.
