Hello Earthlings,

Just a last post before I head off to Scotland to celebrate my Dad's 80th!

I had a picture of my neighbor's mother and me, after her grandkid's bookfair, where they were promoting Outerspace and Aliens!  Of course, being a "resident alien", I was their first choice!

So that picture has been sitting up in my stamping room for 5 months now and I finally had an excuse to use it!  Sparkle N Sprinkle is focusing more this year on scrapbooking, and so I decided to go for it and get my feet wet! Not the favorite feeling for an "alien"!!

I had fun, using a grand  total of 17 Sparkle N Sprinkle products!

Here is the result:

And let's beam in to a couple of close-ups!

And, just to finish it all off - a blast to the past with a card!

Don't think I'll be on the planet to post anything for a couple of weeks.  But unless you're an alien you won't even notice!!

Hi there, and welcome to the latest Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop. Today we are celebrating Spring with our SNS children and flowers! If you hopped here by way of the talented Karalee then you are in the right place! Otherwise, you might like to go back to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog page to become eligible for five great prizes. There are 2 grand prizes and 3 "random" prizes that are attached to three different designers' blogs! In order to be eligible for the prizes, all you have to do is comment on each of the blogs.

So let's get on with the show! For my first card today I decided to go straight for the "Flower Child". There are many fun images in this Set 412 - Daddy's Little Girl. I love this image in particular - I have a niece that is a bit of a tomboy and I found Tomboy Becca to be right up her alley! I colored her with Twinkling H20s and a water brush, something I hadn't played with for a while. The frame is popped up with dimensionals after being run through a flower embossing folder. Girlie, but not too much! Full directions can be found here.

For my second card today, I am sharing my Mum's Mother's Day card. Mother's Day was the 18th of March this year in the UK.  Mothering Sunday, as it is traditionally known in the UK, always falls on the 4th Sunday of Lent, so it can often fall in a different month (let alone day) - that's the UK for you, always keeping us on our toes! If you are interested in reading a little background on Mothering Sunday, just click here!

My Mum is a keen gardener. She has a courtyard in Scotland where she lives now and it is always a delight to see - roses and other climbing plants grow up the sandstone walls and then she has a "million" pots that are home to a wide array of plants. They've not been experiencing the nice weather that we have, so she says it's not as pretty as usual. We're going over for my Dad's 80th birthday next week, but like I said to her, we're not coming to see the plants!!

For the card I used one of my favorite flower images from set 402 - My Rose Garden.  After coloring with Twinkling H20s, I covered the cut and embossed piece with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Detail powder, then repeated the process using Super Thick Clear embossing powder. When it was cool I just folded the piece which caused the cracks to appear, (couldn't wait for the freezer!) then I ran some distressing pink ink over the piece and rubbed off the excess, leaving the pink in the cracks.  I then covered the piece again with Versamark and heat embossed with the Thick Clear powder once more. Full instructions for the card can be found here. If you want to check it out - here is a tutorial on the Cracked Ice Technique

There are some items on sale this month, to go along with our theme, Flowers - Children - Spanish and Artist Tom Jones.  These sets will be offered at 15% off.  Details can be found here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Remember to leave a comment here before you jump on over to see what Julie has in store for you today. Remember to be eligible for the prizes - you must comment on every blog on the hop.

Have a great day!

New Sketch Challenge at Sparkle N Sprinkle

Hi there,

Can you believe it - we've got 70 degrees here today in New Jersey!  ... And here it is - my Spring Announcer - my crocus patch!!  They've actually been out for a couple of weeks now.

I've been so busy with the High School musical over the past three weeks, and am just getting around to breathing again!  So much catching up to do.  So first things first - as this should have been posted at the beginning of the March - there is a new sketch challenge over at Sparkle N Sprinkle.  Go take a look at what some of the other designer's have come up with.  I found this sketch much easier to do than last month's.  Here is my take:

I used one of April's Tuesday Techniques for the background paper in this card.  Click here for full details.
OK - it's your turn now!  You've still got plenty of time to get it in by the end of the month.  Have fun stamping!

You haven't heard much from me over the past two weeks, as I've been up to my eyes in the High School production of Godspell.  I volunteer to do all the photography for the shows, and then we put together a photo slide show along to the music from the show.  That will be the job for this week, but at least I can think about getting back to stamping (hopefully tomorrow!).  The house has been neglected too - so, I'll be dealing with that today!

The show went really well - rave reviews from all.  It was the last school performance for my son, along with seven other Seniors, so the Saturday night (last) performance was especially teary!  When I'm done with the slide show I hope to put it up on my blog.  For now I can share a couple of photos of them and two of the songs they sung in the show - note that Struan is still wearing his sling (broken collarbone injury)!  They even worked that into the show!

Will be back soon with a stamping post!
