GIRLY GIRLS AND MACHO MANIA BLOG HOP

Hi, and welcome to the July Blog Hop over at Sparkle N Sprinkle.  This time around we are celebrating girls and guys, with our Girly Girls and Macho Mania theme!

I hope you arrived here from Julie's fabulous blog, if not, you might want to return to the start of the blog at Sparkle N Sprinkle, so that you can be eligible for all the fantastic prizes.  Remember to comment on each designer's blog, as there will be hidden prizes along the way too!

I had recently purchased the Flip-It Sizzix dies, and was eager to try them out and so I did one for a girl and one for a guy.

I needed a birthday card for our next door neighbor, who has seven motor bikes!  Yes, seven!  So, I made the base with the square Flip-Its die from silver metallic cardstock.  I wanted to give it some texture and almost thought to add the texture on top, but was able to run the sections through an embossing folder which made me very happy!!  These bases are so fun ... and the fact that they can be run through the embossing folder, means that the possibilities are endless. Here is my finished card:

and then you flip it and this is what you get:

Full directions can be found here.

So then, for the girl one, I was thinking floral, romantic, lace and a little bling?  But I didn't have any double-sided cardstock to start with.  So I thought I'll try making my own.  I used a flowered pattern and a script pattern and glued them together with brushable glue.  It worked!

I ran the new cardstock through the Fancy Frame Flip-Its this time, and used the Fancy Frames dies.  I used Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter and a little Rose stamp to add to the floral aspect.  A little lace and some bling flourishes. Here is the end result:

Here are another couple of angles:

Full directions can be found here.

Well that's it from me for today, remember to leave a little love in the form of a comment - maybe I'll have one of the hidden prizes.  Now it's time for you to jump on over to fellow-designer Jackie's blog, she's sure to have something fun to show.

'Till next time,

Shona

  11. Hey I like that you didn't try to color all the tiny areas of the motorcycle but put your color around it. That's a fantastic idea for me cause I have tremors & would have a hard time trying to color the bike. Didn't know that Sizzix was selling a flip die. I've been buying the flip cards at Stamp Fest ea. yr. So thanks for letting us know that.
