Today I'm sharing a Father's Day card, using one of the Dreamweaver Stencils, some opaque metallic glitters, sticker paper and embossing powders.
First I rubbed some Hawaiian soap to the back of the Gears stencil, and then placed a piece of sticker paper over the top of the soap. You have to apply the soap to the stencil, otherwise you will not be able to separate the stencil from the sticker paper.
I used a little glitter spoon to direct the glitter to each of the gears. I started with Fantasy Gold, then used Burnt Orange, Bronze Splendor and lastly Copper Jewel.
I then peeled the sticker paper from the stencil and covered the remaining sticky surface with Semi-Transparent Celestial glitter. I taped the background to a piece of rust cardstock.
I cut out some Spellbinders Gears from white cardstock. Three parts of the gears were used in my card. I applied Versamark and then heat set three of the different gear pieces with Verdigris, Golden Follies and Pebbled Copper.
I blinged the brad with Detail Gold embossing powder. The sentiment from the Fishin' with Dad set was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Sienna, one of the detailed Tuscan embossing powders. I then fussy cut it into a banner shape.
After the card front was layered to natural cardstock, the gears and sentiment were attached with dimensional dots to finish off the card.
Who says Dad's Day cards can't be a little sparkly? Thanks for stopping by.

WOW! Shona this is amazing, I love the finish you have achieved, so much texture and great colours.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely sparkles beautifully! I can picture you with the tiny spoon and the glitters developing the colors on this magnificent Dad's day card. Great choice in the stencil design. Bought some of that soap on a trip to SnS & also lots of the colors of glitter. Yet you always manage to use some I didn't purchase! This is really a terrific use of the supplies and it is a card that Dad will cherish for a long time. Great color, great texture & design and definitely lots of glam! TFS & Happy wkend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWowsers! This is super cool!
ReplyDeleteSuper fun Dad's card. Gorgeous colors.
ReplyDeleteWOWOWOWOWOWOW! You certainly grabbed my attention, Miss Shona! Love the elevated cogs and the pretty colors - so sparkly for a man, and yet so masculine! Your card is lovely - thanks for explaining how it was made - now I need to go get my sun-glasses. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to feel a little better. Still difficult to use my fingers, as my hand-eye coordination is very poor, and the fatigue is exhausting! LOL But I can sit up now for brief periods of time, and enjoy doing some things around the house. I have missed you and your pretty cards very much. love, de
