Spot the Cow!

Hi there,

Glad you stopped by today. My post today is "spot the cow"! I incorporated two of the new October Reveal sets and an older Set to make my farm scene today.

I incorporated one of the older sets into this design today - the Farm Sweet Farm Set 652. I love this beautiful barn image which I decided needed a sort of aged look - so I stamped the image in Black StazOn using my Tonic Stamp Platform and would then color with Copics. This would give a look of weathered paneling on the barn, as the StazOn will mix with the Copics. The image was restamped as you can see on the photo below it didn't cover all the image. When you have a big image like this the platform really comes in useful. Rather than throwing out several copies until you get it right, you just need to reink in the same place!

The tractor from Farm Fresh Tractor Set 877 and the milk urns from Farm Fresh Set 878 were stamped in Memento Black ink to be colored with Copics. The tractor and milk urns were colored in Copics and then fussy cut with the Tonic 5" Mini Scissors - could not craft without these anymore!!

The picket fence is Kraft cardstock cut with a Martha Stewart punch. This was sponged with Seaspray Green Embellishment Mousse

The barn was then given a background with Memento Summer Sky and Olive Grove inks and the picket fence put in place.

There was a gap on the left side I thought after assembly. So the milk urns were removed from the picture for a bit!

... and a little cow was added! I cut up the group of cows from Farm Fresh Set Cows 877 and masked where it would have to go on the top of the grass. She was stamped with the new Nuvo Acorn Brown ink

The sentiment from the Farm Fresh Tractors Set 877 was stamped in the top left hand corner in the Nuvo Clear Mark ink before being heat embossed with Sienna (fine detail embossing powder and rustic).

By placing this on the Tonic Stamp Platform you can use the grid to get it straight the first time and not mess your project up!!!

The cardfront was layered to a piece of burlap and then Kraft cardstock, for a fun rustic look! The tractor and the replaced milk urns were attached with mounting tape to finish off the card.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit to the farm today? Here are the products that were used on my card today, most of which can be found on the SNS website:

  1. Shona, the colors in your creation are WONDERFUL! I'd love a barn done in the peeling paint colors (light colors, that is) and the farm elements surrounding your barn and silo are perfect in size, aren't they? I especially like the cow in brown tones in the background, because that is where they usually are! Your detailed cards are always laden with textures and interest - I am in awe at how imaginatively your mind remembers older sets and combines them with the newer sets. As for this card? I love it! It's amazing!

Regarding red tractors - we sold our 1949 Farmall Cub last night after being on Craigs List about 3 hours. We posted 21 photos, and the very first phone call bought the tractor without viewing it in person. He came out after dark and could only see it with flashlights, gave us the downpayment, and will be back on Tuesday with a truck and trailer to pick it up! That was easy, wasn't it? The calls were constant from other people as well, so I took the pictures down. LOL Have a great day! xx

  6. Shona - This is INCREDIBLE! I love how you have incorporated the older barn stamp, and everything on this card is truly amazing. That cow is perfect, and I love how it is subtle, but still so very important for this scene. Absolutely wonderful, and I love that tractor out front and the fence. Your milk cans are perfect. Swoon!

  9. Very vintage look to this ole time country farm scene. Love the dimension you've created with the different images, and the fluffy, furry moo-cow too. I like the way you've combined several stamp sets to create this nostalgic country scene, and great job on the barn weathering too! TFS & Hugs. Happy wkend. Don't forget the Fall-Back.
