Happy Deer Holidays!

Hi there,

Today I am sharing my last card for Dies R Us, at least for a little while. I had fun creating a little Holiday scene with three dies that can be found over at Dies R Us. This is what I came up with:

This was so much fun to create. I picked out the dies I was going to use - and of course, the card evolved into something a little different from what I had originally had in mind! Here are the three dies I started with:

I started die cutting the birch trees and sponged on a little Memento Peanut Brittle.

For the deer trio I added a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet to a piece of beige cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine.

The protective backing was taken off the deer and Buff Flocking was applied to the sticky surfaces, to produce three cute little fuzzy deer!

The cardinals were cut out of red cardstock.

The deer antlers were sponged over the Buff flocking with Memento Rich Cocoa.

Each of the deer and the cardinals were given eyes and the deer also got noses using a Copic Black marker.

I then sponged a piece of white cardstock with a jumbo dauber and some Distress Oxide Broken China. This was then spritzed with water using a mister.

I then started putting the scene together. I put a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet on to a piece of white cardstock and ripped it diagonally. The first piece was stuck down near the bottom of the background. I then tucked the male deer behind that and removed the backing of the tape. The tree on the left was attached to the base. Another piece of the taped cardstock was ripped and applied on top of the first. The protective backing was removed from that piece and then the three tree other trunks with the little deer and doe were then stuck down. A third "snowbank" was adhered covering the bases of the trees and deer legs. Here you can see the layers:

After removing the third backing, Twinkling Clouds Flocking was then added to the sticky surfaces.

I sprayed the back of the tops of the trees and stag with Pixie Spray. These were then stuck down to the background.

An older Stampin' Up sentiment from Vertical Greetings set was stamped in Versafine Clair Tulip Red and this was then heat embossed with Clear Detail. The cardinals were then added to the branches with Scraperfect Best Glue Ever.

I made a frame using the negative part of the largest Tutti Cross Stitched Frame. A little red bow was added around the top right corner and then mounting foam was added around the frame.

This was then layered over the scene and then the entire piece was taped on to the white card base with the sentiment. I added another little cardinal to the bottom of the sentiment to finish it off!

The following are the products that I used for my card today.

Vertical Greetings (Stampin’ Up)
Pixie Spray
Super Adhesive Sheets
Twinkling Snow Flocking (FL207)
Buff Flocking (FL109)
Clear Detail (EP280)

  3. You've created such a lovely wintery scene with your die cuts Shona, great idea to use the flocking on the deer, love the soft, touchable look it gives them. The snowy layers look great too and add depth and dimension. The pops of red from the cardinals and ribbon tie in beautifully with the stamped sentiment.
Hope you are well and safe!
