I am so ready to wave winter goodbye, only because the weather has been so nice, and I have been teased by mother nature over the past month. It has been so mild around here this winter, that my son, Struan, hasn't even been able to use his snowboarding tickets that he got for Christmas!! I'm not complaining - but he will be soon!
Oh no! - I spoke to soon! I started writing this blog last Wednesday, and Struan used his tickets on Saturday, I got a call from his girlfriend at 10.30am, and he was being brought down the slope on a sled by the EMT's! So he got taken to the hospital up there, and David and I drove up to New York State where they were, as he wasn't going to be able to drive home. He has a broken collarbone and will be in a figure eight and wear a sling for six weeks. His biggest concern now is that the High School play is in four weeks and he plays Judas and John the Baptist.
Never a dull moment - I think I'll finish up this blog, before something else happens!
So welcome to the second Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop of the Year. There will probably be a lot of "hopping" on this one, so hold on to your Easter Bonnets and let's get going, shall we?
If you got here by way of April Williams then you are on the right trail, if not then you had better pop on back to the beginning at Sparkle N Sprinkle to be eligible for all the prizes that are up for grabs.

For my first card, I went with these cute little chicks - don't they just look like they are having their own little party?
WAIT FOR IT! ........ WAIT FOR IT!.......
WAIT FOR IT! ........ WAIT FOR IT!.......
NOW PULL ON THE RIBBON!
SURPRISE!
For the background, I used Set 399 - Spring Backgrounds.
The little chicks are from Set 426 - Easter Chicks
The saying is from Set 425 - Spring Swirl

I just couldn't get enough of these little "peeps", and actually I really liked the spring background too, so using the same images and adding another little partying "peep" - I came up with my second card, with a totally different look! Click here if you need full instructions.

Shona, your cards are amazing! Love those soft pastels in their richness! And all the glitz and glamor that the EPs add. That is one of my favorite background images, and you've used it twice in such wonderful applications! I can hardly wait to copy your ideas. Wonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteShona, I love your cards! Such great embossing and I love the background you used. Very springy!

That's cute with the pull ribbon surprise. thanks
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the suprise chicks on the first card...So cute! The embossing on everything is just lovely and elegant too :)
ReplyDeleteShona these are wonderful! Love your use of the embossing powders, so creative! Hope your son heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are all so beautiful. I must say I sure do admire how the glitter used on the chicks looks so fantastic. It seems when I try to add the glitter I end up covering up their features too much. I usually can make them look better by taking a tooth pick and removing some of the glitter from the stamp images where I want the lines to show. But they never look as good as yours do. Thanks for sharing your talents.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous embossing, Shona, and I love the surprise! Wonderful pastel choices on the cards. Sending good thoughts and prayers for your son, and hope he heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove your embossing and glitter detail. GREAT JOB!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch Vibrant colors in your Spring cards. I look forward to sending my versions to my friends around the country. Thanks for the inspiration. Judy Bennett

ReplyDeleteYour surprise card is the perfect contrast to make a good surprise! You've inspired me to try that design for Valentine's Day, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your creativity.
