Kindness is Always Beautiful

Hi there,

Hope Spring is starting to show up in your neck of the woods? It's certainly been slow around here - but we're hopeful!

Today I'm going to share with you an open die card, using the sentiment from the SNS March Reveal, Bearded Iris Set 889.

Using the Tangerine, I cut two pieces of glossy white cardstock with the Tonic Floral Blooms die.

I then die cut three pieces of card using the Sizzix Dotted Ovals die on the Tangerine. Cover another piece of card with a piece of 2 1/2" Tear-ific Tape and run it through the Tangerine with the same die - this will be the front panel.

Die cut the flowers and stem from the Tonic Woodland Aster die

Color the pieces with Copics while still in place - makes coloring easier!

The sentiment from the Bearded Iris set was stamped with Nuvo Hybrid Safari Green ink and was die cut with a smaller die from the Dotted Ovals. I sponged some Memento Dandelion ink on the oval before I removed the die.

I then removed the protective backing from the taped oval and placed the stem, flowers and sentiment to the sticky surface and then applied Cloud Nine to the remaining adhesive.

To assemble the card, fold over an 1/8" of an inch at the top of the back die cut card and apply a piece of 1/8" Tear-ific Tape which will act as a hinge when attached together.

Attach the front panel, with one of the other plain ovals directly behind it and repeat on the back of the card, so that you have a place to write a message.

Add the ribbon to the top of the card and add a few Limoncello Jewel Drops to finish off the card.

Hope you have enjoyed my share today.

Clunker Birthday Wishes

Hi there,

So glad you dropped by today. We've got another snow day, so what better way to spend it than in the craft room! Here is my second March Reveal card. I just love this stamp set - I Love Old Trucks set 890 - perfect for all the men in your life! Some Copper Gilding Flakes, bleach and  Nuvo embellishment mousse covered gears for this make today:

So to begin I stamped the truck using the Stamp Platform onto black cardstock with Nuvo Clear Mark ink. Stickum embossing powder was applied to the ink and heat embossed till it became tacky.

The Gilding Flakes were pressed on to the tacky embossing powder and excess flakes were brushed away with the Texture Brush.

I "colored" my truck with bleach in a Water Brush. This gave an old worn-out look. I then die cut the image using Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders using the Tangerine Machine.

For my background I ran the Darice Steam Punk embossing folder and rust cardstock through the Tangerine. I used the Nuvo Large Glue Pen to run over the raised gears and when it dried enough to tacky, I applied the Sunkissed Copper Gilding Flakes, taking off the extra with the Texture Brush.

I then ran this piece through the Tangerine again - this time with the Cuttlebug Diamond Plate and then this time I applied some Fresh Copper embellishment Mousse over the entire piece using a Jumbo Dauber.

The Want 2 Scrap paper gears were embellished using some Fresh Copper, Indian Gold, and Black Ash embellishment Mousses using the Jumbo Dauber.

The Happy Birthday Banner was cut out of both black cardstock and rust cardstock. I then lay 1/2" Tear-ific Tape behind the negative space and inserted the black sentiment. Autumn Frost glitter was then burnished into the open sticky areas.

The card was put together with mounting tape and pop dots. The gears were added with brads and pop dots, with Autumn Frost being added to the sticky centers of the gears (from the pop dot).

Hope you've enjoyed my share today?

Gilded Elephant Birthday Wishes

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by! Today I'd like to share with you a card using the new March Reveal Amazing You Paisley Elephant Set 884. This fun stamp has so many possibilities - I chose to highlight my elephant with the Sunkissed Copper Gilding Flakes.

To begin I took the Nuvo Large Glue Pen and ran it over the surface of the elephant and then stamped on to a piece of black card.

You need to leave it a little while until the "creamy" color goes clear, which means that the glue is ready to be applied with the gilding flakes.

I applied the Sunkissed Copper gilding flakes to the glue. Using a textured dauber I removed the excess flakes.

The Copper Flakes only stay where the glue is.

For the background I cut black cardstock with the Tonic Floral Blooms die using the Tangerine.

This was then placed over a piece of Sticker Paper and then the Gilding Flakes were applied to the sticky surface.

Again, the excess Gilding Flakes were rubbed off using the texture dauber.

A strip of pompoms was stuck to the top of the floral background with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape. I added some Autumn Spice Microfine Glitter over the top of the ribbon, so that any adhesive would be covered.

This was layered to a piece of rust cardstock and I made the easel card base from rust cardstock and attached the front panel to the card base. Next I applied Hybrid Ink Acorn Brown to the elephant stamp and stamped on two scraps of the rust cardstock.

Once this was dry I swiped each piece with the Anti Static bag then stamped the sentiments on to each of the pieces in Nuvo Clear Mark ink and heat embossed with Black Detail.

The sentiments from the same set were cut out and stuck to little black strips that had two folds on either edge so that they would have some height to them to be used as stops for the easel. The elephant was attached with mounting foam to finish off the card.

Hope you've enjoyed my latest share? Here are the products that I used to create my card:

Black Detail (EP171)
Autumn Spice (GM2030)

Bearded Iris Mother's Day!

Hi there,

We are on our second snow day today, after an accumulation of a foot of heavy snow, with many downed limbs, including on top of a part of the fence. So I took my extra time, from my cancelled regular activities to make my Mum's Mother's Day card. While I was lying in bed yesterday morning not needing to get up I was thinking ... Easter is very early this year, that means so is UK Mother's Day and on checking ... sure enough it is this Sunday!! Yikes! I hope it will get there in time.

I used the new Bearded Iris Set 889 from Sparkle N Sprinkle, stamping the image in Safari Green Hybrid Ink using the Stamp Platform, as I wanted to stamp over it again after coloring it in.

I heat embossed the image with Sparkle and it gave a raised, glittery outline.

I decided to color the image with my new Hybrid Ink Diamonds. These are the new hybrid mini ink pads by Nuvo. There are four sets and I used the Rose Garden Collection which includes Pink Sherbert, Spanish Sangria and Dried Oregano. I dabbed the ink pads onto an acrylic block and used my Nuvo Water Brush to pick up the ink.

I then put the finished colored image back in the Stamp Platform and inked the stamp with Nuvo Clear Mark and heat embossed with Sparkle again.

I then made my base for my easel card. Only cutting the bottom flap with the outline die from the Tonic Loopy Lace Ovals Die. I put a double piece of scrap card at the fold of my easel, so that when I ran the cardstock and die through my Tangerine, the machine's tension would let me know when I had gone far enough. Hope the picture below explains what I did?

A piece of Super Adhesive Sheet was attached to a piece of cardstock and the outline and biggest frame die were run through the Tangerine.

Then only the outline die was run through the Tangerine with a piece of white cardstock layered with Super Adhesive Sheet. The protective backing was removed and then the Loopy Lace Frame was layered to the sticky surface. Gecko Velvet Glitter was applied to the sticky areas of the frame. Then the protective backing was removed from the frame and Margarita was applied to the main piece.

The image was die cut with the Sizzix Dotted Ovals Die and was mounted to the glittery frame with
Mounting Tape.

I stamped the sentiment from the MSE Mother's Day Innies and Outies in the Hybrid Green ink,
using the Stamp Platform again, as it was a detailed image and I wanted to stamp it twice.

The Happy Mother's Day from the same MSE set was stamped in the Safari Green ink on white
cardstock and was die cut with a smaller Dotted Oval die. This was attached to the bottom of the
card base with mounting tape, so it would act as a stop for the easel card.

I added Nuvo Bottle Green Crystal Drops to the sentiment and some to the Iris image.

Hope you've enjoyed my share today? Below you will find a list of products that I used in making this card, which can be purchased over on the Sparkle N Sprinkle website.

Balloon Birthday Wishes

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by today. I'd like to share another February Reveal card using the fun Balloon Bunch Stamp Set 887.

When I saw this set I knew that I was going to use it along with the Sizzix Balloon Step Up die. Sparkle N Sprinkle recently brought out some fabulous new colors in microfine glitters, a few of them were purplish hues, Hyacinth, Caspia Sea, and Purple Fig, so I decided to go with a pink and purple theme. I began by cutting out the card base with my Tangerine and stamping the balloon image twice with StazOn Black, using the Tonic Stamp Platform, so that I could overstamp to ensure a crisp image.

I made a little paint palette with an acrylic block and a couple of Aqua Flow Pens and used a Water Brush to color in my balloons. I fussy cut the balloons using my Tonic 5" mini scissors.

Using the Versamarker Pen I "colored" the background balloons and then covered them with Clear Detail embossing powder. This was then heat embossed. I then applied the Versamark ink again to a couple of the balloons and this time heat embossed with Super Thick Clear, from the bottom. This gave the balloons all different looks.

A scrap of Super Adhesive Sheet was layered to a scrap of white cardstock and then I applied Cloud Nine to the sticky surface after removing the protective backing. The balloon image was stamped directly on top of the glittered surface with StazOn Black and the front balloon was fussy cut and popped up on top of the other balloons.

Some purple and white bakers twine was attached to the back of the balloons with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape. Scraps of Super Adhesive Sheets were stuck down to scraps of purple cardstock and then run through the Tangerine with the balloon dies from the die set.

The protective layer was removed and then Hyacinth, Caspia Sea, Purple Fig and Cloud Nine were used to color the balloons and their strings.

The happy birthday (also part of the die set) was die cut on the Tangerine from a piece of pale purple cardstock layered with the Super Adhesive Sheet, to which Hyacinth Glitter was applied.

Then it was time to assemble the card. A piece of Super Adhesive sheet was die cut with the front panel die and then the balloons and the sentiment were attached to the sticky surface and then Cloud Nine was applied to the remaining adhesive. This was then attached to the front of the card base, after which I ran purple STA metallic pen around the outside of the white panel.

The other balloons were attached to the card base with mounting tape and a piece of card with Happy Everything was attached to the inside of the card to finish it off.

This finishes my card for today. Here's a side view:
