CELEBRATE THE SEASON!

Hi and thanks for stopping by,

I have to say, I was naughty today (I hope Santa's not listening!). Instead of making Christmas cards and getting what I really needed to do done, I started playing - with some really fun products from Sparkle N Sprinkle

We recently introduced two fun and appropriate seasonal embossing powders: Red Marbled Christmas and Green Marbled Christmas - now that isn't hard to remember is it, but look at the results!:

Full of sparkle - OK, I know, what isn't, over at Sparkle N Sprinkle - it would be a misnomer it it didn't sparkle!

OK, sorry about that I digressed yet again today!  If you didn't see my post yesterday, have a quick look at that card. Look at that beautiful metallic background cardstock!

Using a different combination of this lovely metallic cardstock, I decided to go with a more "orangy" hue for my card today. So I took a lovely orange patterned designer paper, die cut it with Spellbinders Botanical Swirls and and covered it in Magic Speckle - "Thanks April" , what a gorgeous covering it became. Felt like I didn't want to cover up the background, metallic look, but couldn't help myself. (Come on, more is never enough!).

I did feel bad covering the entire left side bottom with the Spellbinder's Nested Poinsettias, but that was what I had intended to do - so I did get over it -  and on with the show! Oh, and don't forget the leaves from Spellbinder's Rose Creations.

I had some "pinkish" colored paper scraps and cut and embossed them with the Poinsettia Spellbinder's die and then covered them in Versamark and applied the new Red Marbled Christmas to each layer.  Oh, yes, and I did the same with some sage green cardstock and the Spellbinder's Rose Creations, except after the Versamark - I applied the Green Marbled Christmas embossing powder. But doesn't it look like the flower and leaves were outlined?  OK, I confess, with a Sakura Glue pen and some Celestial glitter!

The frame was done with a couple of sizes from the Spellbinder's Grand Large Labels. So after cutting and embossing the frame, I applied Versamark and then some Verdigris embossing powder - and then a little Magic Speckle.

The base card was edged with Versamark and then heat embossed with some of the Red Marbled Christmas embossing powder, and edged with a little Distress ink - Rusty Hinge. The frame was set on top with dimensional tape and then the poinsettia was positioned!

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in Pine. These Tuscany powders are perfect for detail embossing. I used the Spellbinders Fancy Tags for the Sentiment from Sparkle N Sprinkle Set 507 ( another new and awesome Christmas SNS set). I distressed the tag with Pine and Rusty Hinge.

Wishing I had done something more than copper brads for the flower centers but yellow didn't seem appropriate - thus the metallic look!

Hope you liked what I did today - felt it needed a ribbon of some sort (but that is truly outside my comfort zone! - not enough space on the card!).  This was already a 5 x 7!  Sorry Margaret!

Hugs,

Shona

LAST ROUND OF GOLF (for a bit!)

I'm back this morning with a quick post, showing the last of the cards that I made using Sparkle N Sprinkle's Golf Set 509.  This is definitely one for the ladies!

I used the little purses from another Set 411: Just Like Mommy to create my stage for the lady golfer and golf bag.

I colored them with Copics using pinks and purples. A few of them were stamped twice, fussy cut and popped up. I added Sparkle embossing powder over the top of my sentiment and some Sparkling Snow to the golf clubs.

Full directions can be found here, if needed.

Thanks for stopping by today.

"HOOT OF A PRIZE" WINNER!

A big thanks to all of you that joined us for the latest Sparkle N Sprinkle release of Set 510: Owlettes.  The winner was randomly picked from the (Mystery Designer) Belinda Shupe's blog:

CONGRATULATIONS KAREN LADD!

Please e-mail SNS_Artist@tampabay.rr.com with your mailing address, choice of one glitter and embossing powder which can be used with your dear little owlettes, and we will get your prize in the mail!

While we were preparing for our big release, I played a little with the Owlette set and some of the many products that Sparkle N Sprinkle has to offer. Here are three more designs that I came up with:

This one uses our "Glow in the Dark" embossing powder!  I used a Versamarker pen to apply the embossing powder to the rings around the eyes.  It's also a great embossing powder choice for those upcoming Halloween projects! The instructions are here.

Then I decided to glitter things up a bit, using the Tear-ific Tapes. It's so easy to add strips of bling (not to mention furry softness) to your projects!

For the little owl, I used the 2 1'2" Tear-ific Tape with some Buff Flocking and then shaded with Copics on top. He is also attached to a wobble, another fun element to add to your projects!

I also edged the card base with the 1/2" Tape, centered the card front and applied the Buff Flocking to the exposed edges. Can you see the fuzziness in the frame?

For my last card I decided to use two of the new marbled embossing powders, Ocean and Mojito:

Mojito for the grass, Ocean for the sky! Full details can be found here, if needed:

So there you have a few more ideas for this adorable little set.

Owl be back soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TAG

I'm just doing a little last minute laundry before Struan heads back to Scotland tonight.  While I'm waiting on the pre-wash, here's a birthday tag that I did a couple of weeks ago, when I was on my Gelato's roll!

I applied pink Gelatos to a piece of cream card, then put a piece of netting over that and ran a white Gelato over the piece - giving me the mottled look.  Then I ran the piece through the Cuttlebug "You" embossing folder, applied Memento Lilac Posies directly to the raised pattern. Cut in the shape of a tag.

Sparkle N Sprinkle has some new marbled embossing powders out, and "Mesmerized" is my favorite. That was what was used for the flower.  Run the Lilac Posies directly over the flower too and then apply Versamark and heat emboss with Clear Detail.

The happy birthday was taken from an embossing folder. I added a couple of Dylusions-sprayed flourishes, pom-pom ribbon, a heart brad heat embossed with Bahama Mama (another of the Marbled embossing powders) and some glitter and my tag was complete.  For step by step instructions please click here.

OK, on with the laundry!

Stop by in a few days, where we'll be releasing the newest Sparkle N Sprinkle Set.  It's going to be a "hoot"!

VAMP STAMP NEWS PUBLICATIONS

Hi there,

Just got a note from Nancie Waterman letting me know that I'm in the latest edition of the on-line Vamp Stamp News Magazine.

This month we were challenged to use Gelatos or gel sticks.  Have to confess I enjoyed playing around with these little guys for much longer than I should have!!

Here is the first one I came up with using the Gelatos to color in an image:

For the second one, I used the Gelatos as a wash for the background:

.. and for the third I tried a little experimenting!

So much sparkle on this third card.  I had just received the new marbled embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle, so wanted to try them too! I learnt that if I colored on glossy cardstock with Gelatos, it would just rub off when touched, but I loved the vibrant colors it produced, so after coloring, I covered the entire colored card with Versamark and added a little "Sparkle", so that all the color would stay put!  A pretty Gelato Butterfly and we were done!

Click here if you need the instructions to any of the three cards:

That's all the Gelato for now!
