Snow One Like You!

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share with you my second SNS September Reveal card, using the
Great Horned Owl Set 912, only I changed it to be a Snowy Owl and paired it with one of
my flocked and glittered backyard photos!

Using the Stamp Platform, since I was working with Watercolor paper and would want to make a couple of inkings in order to get a good impression, I stamped the owl image in Metro Grey Hybrid Ink.

After fussy cutting the owl (and cutting off his ears) with the 5" Mini Scissors I used

His eyes were colored with yellow Copic marker YR23 and then I added Dimensional Glue on top.
Dimensional Glue was also put down at the feet for more flocking. Snowy owls have hairy feet!

Did you know that Snowy Owls are not nocturnal like other owls? So, I took one of my backyard snow day photos, and using the Quickie Glue Pen I added Twinkling Clouds to the snow on the branches.

I edged a piece of cardstock with 1/2" Tear-ific Tape. After removing the protective backing I applied the Oceanic Glass Glitter, and then filled in any spaces with Ocean Breeze Glitter.

The sentiment from the Snow One Like You Set 515 was stamped in the Stamping Platform with Empire Blue Hybrid Ink and die cut with the Spellbinders Grommet Tag. I then edged the tag with the Nuvo Medium Glue pen and applied Ocean Breeze Glitter.

Taking a strip of 1/4" Tear-ific Tape and twisting it around to make it into a piece of sticky twine, it was then rolled in the Ocean Breeze Glitter.

I put a little mounting tape behind the sentiment tag and attached the twine through the holes in the tag to the back of the photo. The photo was then adhered to a white card base with Mounting Tape. The owl was positioned on the branch with 1/4" Tear-ific Tape and a piece of Mounting Tape behind the head. Then Silver Moondust Glitter Drops were added to the sentiment and around the photo to finish of the card.

Below is a list of products used in my card today. You can get an extra 10% off your SNS purchases by using my code, ShonaDT10, at the check out.

Christmas Cardinal and Baubles

Hi there,

Today I'm back to share with you another May Reveal card, this time using the Cardinal and Holly Set 895 and an earlier month's Christmas Baubles Set 891.

So to begin with, using the Stamp Platform, I stamped the baubles from the Christmas Baubles Set 891 with Nuvo Clear Mark Ink and then heat embossed with Gold Detail on plaid designer paper.

The baubles were fussy cut with the 5" mini scissors and then I added more ink to the hook of the bauble with the Versamarker pen and applied and heat embossed more Gold Detail embossing powder.

The three ornaments were then covered with more Clear Mark embossing ink and then given an application of Clear Detail and then another application of Ultra Thick Detail to give them a nice glassy appearance.

The cardinal and holly was then stamped in Nuvo Clear Mark, was heat embossed with Black Detail and fussy cut with the 5" mini scissors.

The image was then colored using several Aquaflow Markers, by applying a little ink from each color, which had been dripped on an acrylic block, and picking it up with the Nuvo Aqua Brush to apply to the image.

Nuvo drops Autumn Red were applied to the berries and Nuvo Glitter Drops White Blizzard were applied to the beak of the Cardinal.

The remainder of the berries were applied with Winter Cranberry Glitter Accents. A little Sakura Quickie Glue was added to the wings and breast of the Cardinal and then some Berry Red Flocking was added for texture.

Some red and green inks were added to each feather using the Nuvo Water brush and were set aside to dry.

The sentiment was stamped in Nuvo Clear Mark and heat embossed in Fire Cracker Red. I then took the little die from the inside of the Tonic Topnote Trellis Layering Die set and cut it out using my Tangerine Machine. It was too big for the sentiment so I reduced it!

I made the die shape smaller while still keeping the shape somewhat.

I edged the sentiment panel in Hybrid Safari Green before fussy cutting a little plaid border for the sentiment.

To put the card together I used negative pieces that I had cut out for previous projects using the Tonic Specialty Paper Ivory Bouquet - a frame piece (Tonic Topnote Trellis) and then the Sizzix Dotted Ovals die. The frame with the plaid background was layered to an olive green card base. The oval piece was attached with the feathers peeking out from behind. The Cardinal image with the baubles hanging from the branch were then attached with Craft Perfect Foam Pads.

The finishing touch was the Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold. A few at the bauble ends and around the sentiment and top left corner.

Here is a list of the products that I used on my project today, most of which you can find on the Sparkle N Sprinkle Website:

Bearded Iris Mother's Day!

Hi there,

We are on our second snow day today, after an accumulation of a foot of heavy snow, with many downed limbs, including on top of a part of the fence. So I took my extra time, from my cancelled regular activities to make my Mum's Mother's Day card. While I was lying in bed yesterday morning not needing to get up I was thinking ... Easter is very early this year, that means so is UK Mother's Day and on checking ... sure enough it is this Sunday!! Yikes! I hope it will get there in time.

I used the new Bearded Iris Set 889 from Sparkle N Sprinkle, stamping the image in Safari Green Hybrid Ink using the Stamp Platform, as I wanted to stamp over it again after coloring it in.

I heat embossed the image with Sparkle and it gave a raised, glittery outline.

I decided to color the image with my new Hybrid Ink Diamonds. These are the new hybrid mini ink pads by Nuvo. There are four sets and I used the Rose Garden Collection which includes Pink Sherbert, Spanish Sangria and Dried Oregano. I dabbed the ink pads onto an acrylic block and used my Nuvo Water Brush to pick up the ink.

I then put the finished colored image back in the Stamp Platform and inked the stamp with Nuvo Clear Mark and heat embossed with Sparkle again.

I then made my base for my easel card. Only cutting the bottom flap with the outline die from the Tonic Loopy Lace Ovals Die. I put a double piece of scrap card at the fold of my easel, so that when I ran the cardstock and die through my Tangerine, the machine's tension would let me know when I had gone far enough. Hope the picture below explains what I did?

A piece of Super Adhesive Sheet was attached to a piece of cardstock and the outline and biggest frame die were run through the Tangerine.

Then only the outline die was run through the Tangerine with a piece of white cardstock layered with Super Adhesive Sheet. The protective backing was removed and then the Loopy Lace Frame was layered to the sticky surface. Gecko Velvet Glitter was applied to the sticky areas of the frame. Then the protective backing was removed from the frame and Margarita was applied to the main piece.

The image was die cut with the Sizzix Dotted Ovals Die and was mounted to the glittery frame with
Mounting Tape.

I stamped the sentiment from the MSE Mother's Day Innies and Outies in the Hybrid Green ink,
using the Stamp Platform again, as it was a detailed image and I wanted to stamp it twice.

The Happy Mother's Day from the same MSE set was stamped in the Safari Green ink on white
cardstock and was die cut with a smaller Dotted Oval die. This was attached to the bottom of the
card base with mounting tape, so it would act as a stop for the easel card.

I added Nuvo Bottle Green Crystal Drops to the sentiment and some to the Iris image.

Hope you've enjoyed my share today? Below you will find a list of products that I used in making this card, which can be purchased over on the Sparkle N Sprinkle website.
