Hi there,
Today I'd like to share a birthday card with you, created for my hubby, David, from the new Honey Bees Set 775. He's getting a bee hive for his birthday this year and today is his birthday!
To begin with I cut the two corners of the square yellow cardstock with the honeycomb die from the Sizzix Mixed Media 660220 die set. The honeycomb image was then stamped a few times in Versamark and heat embossed with Black Detail in the other corners.
The bee hive image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo black and was colored with Copics: Y13, Y17, E33, YR24, YR07, YG23, YG25. The image was then cut out with Spellbinders Hexagons.
The honeycomb images were also colored using the same Copic markers as were the little bees that were also stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Black Detail. A piece of Super Adhesive Sheet was adhered to the back of the corners and Black Suede Velvet Glitter was applied to the sticky surface. A yellow ribbon was then tied around the cardfront and attached at the back, before being layered to black cardstock.
Green Iris and Energized Glitters were applied to the flowers and grass of the image with a Sakura Glue Pen. The entrance of the beehive was applied with Dimensional Glue and Green Iris Glitter. A larger hexagon was cut from black cardstock and the image was layered to that, before being attached to the cardfront with Dimensional Foam.
The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Black Detail. The small die from the Hexagon set was used, using the out of the box cutting technique, so that the sentiment would "hang" over the edges. Some Dandelion Memento ink was sponged on to the sentiment before removing the die. After cutting the fish tail, the entire piece was edged with Memento Black ink. This was also popped up with Dimensional Foam. The cardfront was then attached to a yellow cardstock base.

ReplyDeleteWhat a bright and beautiful birthday card. Another fantastic card design and I love the beautiful background you made for the focal image.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous card that hubby will appreciate like no other I suspect, fabulous colours, design, texture. AND the BIG bow all fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHow clever to give him a card that reflects his beehive birthday gift! This has been such an interesting tutorial to share how you've created this unique & sparkling card. The treatment of the beehive entrance created so much emphasis to the design too. Love the way you've used the honeycombs in the corners, as well as the colored ones, and great idea to die cut with the hexagon to repeat all these shapes. He's gonna love it! TFS & Happy Easter.
