Snowflake Deer Tag

Hi there and welcome to May! My header for this month is our lovely native perennial, Columbine. Blooming just in time for another May visitor - the hummingbird! I haven't sat over in the area where it blooms to catch the hummingbirds at it, but since they are at the window feeder in the kitchen, then I'm pretty sure they will be frequenting the Columbine also.

The May Challenge over at Christmas Craft Creations is Tags or ATCs. I hope you'll be able to join us this month? I was looking for some inspiration and came across this ornament die with the deer and snowflakes. Decided to go with a bauble-shaped tag!

I die cut the top of the outline die of the ornament from a piece of silver cardstock (for the bauble topper) and then the entire die cut from a homemade piece of watercolor paper that I had in my backgrounds' drawer, which I believe had been applied with Brushos and water and while still wet, I had added some Wink of Stella. This gave a little bit of sheen to the piece.

The black cardstock was die cut using both dies.

This was then glued down on top of the die cut background piece and the little silver top was also attached with glue.

I tied a piece of green twine through the hole to finish off my tag.

I hope that you will be inspired to join in our challenge this month, with a tag or ATC?
Till next time,

Flocked Season's Greetings

Hi there and thanks for stopping by my blog today! My April header is of my Star Magnolia tree. Although still small and fenced-off, so that the deer don't get to it - it is covered in these beautiful blooms. Can't wait till it reaches a height where it will be safe from those rats with antlers!

Today I have a card for the Design Team of Christmas Craft Creations and this month the challenge is "No Stamping"!  So come on ladies - get out those dies and stencils and join in the fun. It is CCC's one year birthday this month, so there are a few prizes up for grabs!! I hope you will join in the fun?

I'm afraid I didn't have my camera up in the stamping room when I made my card, as it was raining torrentially and I didn't want to go over to get it!! So this will be a photoless post!

I began by die cutting the Tutti Designs Holly Panel from green cardstock layered with double stick adhesive. The cardstock side was taped down to the red cardstock, around the edges and under some of the leaves to keep it flat. I removed the protective backing from the die cut and applied Grass Green Flocking.

In hindsight, I should have attached the berries (red rhinestones) before putting down the flocking as the self-adhesive on some of the rhinestones was not terribly sticky!!

I die cut the Impression Obsession Christmas Stitched Words from the same green cardstock and put double sided tape behind, so that the Cherry Sparkle Flocking would adhere to the letters. These were then attached to the panel with mounting tape. The rhinestones were added now, but as I said it would have been easier had I done that before the flocking!

The front panel was attached to a white card base and that finished off my card for today! Please join in the fun. It's our birthday month, so several prizes are going to be up for grabs!

Here is a list of the products that I used:

Pink Poinsettias

Hi folks and welcome to March! We're expecting to get up in the 60's this week.  Since it is so warm my bees are out and about and are already bringing in some light colored pollen!  After scouring the yard for what it might be that they are finding, I was thrilled to see them foraging on a big clump of heather in the front yard. My March header is one of these busy girls!

With Spring just around the corner, we often think flowers, and it just so happens that the theme over at Christmas Craft Creations for the month of March is also flowers - Christmas flowers!

I chose to feature the Poinsettia! I began with stamping the Stampendous Poinsettia Background in Versamark and heat embossing with Gold Detail.

I colored in the poinsettia flowers with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink with a small blender.

I cut the white border off and layered to pink cardstock before layering to a white cardbase. The poinsettia from the Recollections Stamp and Die Set (which happens to be this month's prize over on the Challenge) was also stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with gold detail.

The flower was also inked with the Worn Lipstick.

The flower portion was then die cut.

I inked, heat embossed and colored the petals a third time and the smaller inside petals were then fussy cut.

I then attached the three-layered poinsettia to the prepared card front with mounting tape. Nuvo Crystal Drops Dandelion Yellow were added to the centers of all the flowers. The sentiment from Sparkle N Sprinkle set Nesties Xmas Trees was stamped on pink card with Versamark and also heat embossed in Gold Detail. I hand cut a little banner and attached the sentiment also with mounting tape.

Gold baker's twine was wrapped around the spine of the card to finish off my project for today. Taken from this angle, you lose the sparkle of the embossing powder, but you can see how detailed the embossing is.

I hope I have inspired you to join in along with the challenge and have a chance at winning the Recollections Stamp and Die set. Below is a list of all the products that I used.
