I did four different projects this month, but I'm only showing you two for now!
I absolutely love the new Silhouette Set 493. If you did our last month's hop, you'll recognize it. I also used it for the Sketch Challenge for May. Make sure you check out the challenge this month, you have 'till the end of the month to enter. This set is so versatile, just by changing the colors used, you can get an entirely different look every time. So this time I made a beach scene using the Silhouette set and some watercolor crayons. I stamped in brown StazOn instead of black, to make it look more natural. Adding a little Florida Beach Glitter here and there, and some Sparkling Snow glitter for the waves, to give it a little bling, like the sun was reflecting off the water.
For the inside of the card, I incorporated some stamps from another set - 403 By the Seashore:
You can find complete directions in my gallery here.
For my second card, I decided to use some Beach Glass Mudd Puddles, and yet another "beachy" set 404 - Ocean Treasures. I colored the shells with Copics and stuck them to a piece of 2 1/2" Tear-ific Tape. I then applied Sparkling Sands Sparkle N Soft to the remaining exposed tape, to give the look of the shells lying in the sand:
I used one of the Tide Embossing Folders, that SNS carries for my "waves". You'll find complete directions here for the above card.
Stop by in the next couple of weeks and I'll have the other projects posted.
Now it's time to hop on over to the ever-inspiring Brenda to see what she has done with the beach theme.
Have a great day!
Shona
Hi, Shona! Two GORGEOUS cards! Oh my! So glad I did not make mine using the same images as you did, except for the sand castle. - Your card is sooo amazing - gate fold and then landscape-like on the inside - beautiful shading. Shona, I am ALWAYS inspired on your blog - you use products, images, and folds in the most imaginative ways. Thanks for always bringing something new into my life by sharing your artwork like that. hugs, de

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Love your technique for putting the shells in the sand.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful but I am so in love with your trifold card.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful. Your first card is like 2 cards in one, outside and inside both done so professionally. Love your scene. The gate fold is a nice way to introduce it.
ReplyDeleteThe second has such great coloring and the baby beach stones are a perfect accent.
The first card was like a walk on the beach...from the first step onto the sand, to the waters edge to build the sand castle. I like how you 'burried' the sentiment on the second card. I love both cards. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I love that new stamp set & it really is perfect for a beach scene. The trifold card is perfect for a beach scene, too.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to your 2nd card: I haven't tried coloring on glitter yet but I will soon. I love the dimensional effect with your sentiment-very creative! LOVE them!

Linda Gibb
Love the way you colored the shells very pretty. Thanks
ReplyDelete2 gorgeous cards, Shona. Love the bifold design of the first one especially as it invites you in to see what's happening at the beach today...sand castle building! Sparkling snow glitter on the waves is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteNina
Love the way you made the inside beach blend in with the outside and the glitter on the water does look realistically like the sun is shining on it. What a clever way on the second card to make it look like the shells are lying in the sand.
ReplyDeleteThe first card is absolutely beautiful. The outside invites you in to your sandcastle beach scene. Love the colors you used on this card. The 2nd card has more texture, which of course I love, and the way you placed the shells and the, "rocks", gives the card a wonderful depth.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of the Silhouette stamps. I can see I'm going to have to add them to my collection. Your cards are a breath of summer beach breezes. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour beach scene card is beyond description. What a surprise when you open this beauty
