Glittered Peace Dove

Hi there,

Welcome to October! My header this month is two Monarchs nectaring on Aster blooms before heading off to Mexico. They have to stock up before they can make the 2000 mile journey.

On the stamping front, I have some exciting news to share with you! I am going to be working with the Dies R Us Design Team for the next 6 months. So for my first card I tried something a bit different for me - no stamping!  Just two dies and then sparkled things up with three velvet glitters.

Here are the two dies that I used:

First I layered a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet onto white cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot with the Peace Frame. Then I gently removed the protective backing of the outside of the frame, peeling and pulling up slowly, leaving a sticky surface where the letters and scrolling are.

The sticky exposed surface was applied with Purple Fig microfine glitter. This was burnished in using my finger tool!

Once glittered, I layered this to a gold mirror cardstock base.

With the help of the Spellbinder All in one tool, I picked out the "background".

Microfine 24kt Gold was applied to the sticky adhesive. Here you can see where I missed a couple of little areas, so I picked those out with my tool and reapplied the gold glitter.

Next I ran the dove through my Big Shot with a scrap of the Super Adhesive Sheet layered to white cardstock. After removing the protective backing from the adhesive, I applied my third velvet glitter - Cloud Nine. A green Copic was used to color over the glitter for the olive branch.

The card front was attached to a glossy white background and the dove was attached to the bottom with mounting tape to finish off my card for today.

Don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog. There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store. For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

  4. This is so gorgeous! I have not done that technique in ages. I should use up more of my glitter but I so hate the mess involved with it. But it sure does look awesome on cards.
