WINTER BIRDHOUSE

Hi there,

Today I'd like to share with you another card from the November Reveal. My card today uses the fun image Winter Birdhouse Stamp Set 803.

Winter Birdhouse

I decided to do a little spotlighting technique on my card. So to begin with I stamped the image twice with Memento Tuxedo Black on white cardstock and colored one of the images with Copic Markers: Y13, YR04, R17, E31, E33, E13, E35. I then used different sized punches (1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2") to cut out the three little birds from the colored image. I then applied Dimensional Glue to the "snowy" parts of the circles. Twinkling Clouds was then applied to the glue and set aside to dry.

Winter Birdhouse

On the other black and white version, I applied the new Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste with a paint brush to the patches of snow.

Winter Birdhouse

This piece, when dry, was cut out to 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" and was layered to a piece of cream cardstock which had been die cut with the Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders and this was then layered to a black card base.

The little spotlit circles were attached with Foam Squares. The Nuvo Glitter DropsWhite Blizzard and Silver Moondust were applied to the little dots around the image and Moonstone Glimmer Paste was applied to the little snowflakes.

Winter Birdhouse

That finishes my card for today. I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Unicorn Challenge Blog: Challenge #15: Snow/Snowflakes
A Gem of a Challenge: #181 Snowflakes
Critters and Creatures Linky Party 9: November (Create an Outdoor Scene)

Till next time,

Big hugs,

This month, the Designers were asked to work with the digi versions of the stamp sets. I rarely use digis, so this was a "bit" of a challenge for me.  I used the Gone fishing set 778 for a rather simple card first, just to get my feet wet again!! I do love silhouette stamps and these two new fishing sets are perfect for the guys, especially with Father's Day on it's way!

Then I ventured out and played with both the Nasturtium sets. I began by printing out the black and white version of the stemmed nasturtiums from Nasturtiums #1. These were dauber-colored with Memento inks: Dandelion, Morocco and Lady Bug.

After the flowers were complete, the stems were colored with the green Copic Marker YG67 and the "bouquet" was applied with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Detail.

Then I printed out both the colored and black and white border digi from Nasturtium #2 Set 783. The colored one was cut down to 4" x 5 1/4".  The black and white copy was cut down smaller, and was placed in the same position on top of the colored version. I took the Spellbinders Labels Twenty Five die and centered it on the black and white version and ran it through the die cutting machine. Versamark was added to the colored version and then was heat embossed with Clear Detail, this gave it a lovely shine.

Nuvo Crstal Drops, Apple Green, Copper Penny, Red Berry and Dandelion Yellow were applied to the stamen of the flowers as shown. This was left to dry (I let it dry for an hour).

A hole was punched at the bottom of the black and white panel and a Mon Ami Gabby white pull ribbon bow was threaded through the hole, holding down the stems of the bouquet.  The black and white panel was then taped down to the colored version to give the Spotlight idea. The flowers were attached with Dimensional Foam

The card front was attached to a black card base. The sentiment, from Silhouettes Set 493, was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with Black Detail. It was then cut and embossed with a smaller die from the set and was daubed with a little Dandelion Memento ink before removing the die. This was placed at the base of the card with Dimensional Foam also.

Hope I've inspired you to try out the digi version of these gorgeous new sets! Next on the hop is Marie, who uses the same border stamp and bouquet for a completely different look - that's the beauty of using versatile digis!

Till next time,

Shona

HAPPY AUTUMNAL BIRTHDAY

Hi there, today I have a card to share, made with the new Welcome Autumn set for a dear friend, who hopefully will have received it by now, so it won't ruin the surprise! There is a lot of detail in this pretty image, which means a lot of potential coloring! I decided to use the spotlight technique and just focus on the friendship of the little animals in the image.

I stamped the image in Versamark on mustard cardstock and heat embossed with Teddy Brown. I took an Aqua Pen and filled it with bleach and colored the leaves of the image. I cut and embossed the card front with Spellbinders Fanciful Lattice. The image was then stamped again on white cardstock and I colored just the animal areas using the following Copics: E33, R20, YR21 and YR24.

The big cat area was cut out of the embossed image and the same part of the image was cut and embossed from the white image, using Spellbinders Standard Circles Large. The white image was placed in the "window" and was taped down from the back.

I then edged another piece of mustard cardstock with 3/4" Tear-ific Tape, after removing the protective backing, the latticed card front was centered on the edged piece and Goldenrod velvet glitter was applied to the exposed sticky edges.

I continued cutting and embossing the other little animals and they were attached in their places with Dimensional Dots.

The happy birthday was die cut and then heat embossed with Teddy Brown. I attached the sentiment with Dimensional Glue. Friend was cut and embossed and then I ran Memento Cantaloupe ink over the top, before heat embossing with some Clear Detail to give it a bit of a shine, like the happy birthday. This was also attached with Dimensional Dots.

The card front was layered on a mustard card base and a strip of Diamond Mesh was attached to the left hand side for some autumnal bling and to complete the card.

I enjoyed putting this card together for Donna! Happy Birthday dear Friend!

I'd like to enter this card in the following two challenges:
Stamping Sensations - October Challenge - Warm Autumnal Colors
and Jellypark Challenges - Autumn/Fall

Thanks for stopping by today,

Shona
